District Projects & Programs

We have several currently active District-wide in-state service projects in the works and every District Rotarian is urged to participate and help, either directly with the District or working through your own Rotary club.

There's something available for every interest. Some of these projects address emergency needs, others focus upon helping communities move toward long-term solutions to the underlying causes of social ills, while others help preserve our history for future generations. Many can be accomplished without the need to raise large amounts of money - they just need the service efforts of some dedicated Rotarians.

This is your opportunity to get involved in a service project and make Alaska and its communities a better place for ourselves and for our children and grandchildren.

For more information on District-wide projects or to get involved, please contact Services Committee chair Joe Kashi - kashi@alaska.net

District 5010 has developed a philosophy of low-cost, highly cost-effective projects.  Here are a few examples.  For more information, or to work on your own high-impact projects, contact District 5010’s Service Committee Chair PDG Joe Kashi at kashi@alaska.net or 907-398-0480

Maui Relief Fund
From Hawai'i Rotary District Governor Mark Merriam, August 9, 2023:
Today has been a tragic day for our Rotarians, families and friends on the Island of Maui. The fires across the island have changed lives forever. Truly devastating. Our sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted.  As people of action, we can take immediate action. As we come together to recover and rebuild, we need to support each other. We need to Create Hope for Maui.  Through our Rotary District 5000 Foundation, a relief fund has been established. Foundation President Dave Hamil and Treasurer Sharon Amano will handle all donations. A committee will be organized shortly to find the greatest needs for distribution of monies. A single fund will be the most helpful over time to provide the most significant benefits.

Please consider donating... Our friends in Maui, Hawaii need our financial help!
