Christianne Flessner

Christiana grew up in a tiny village in Northern Germany. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of British Columbia/Vancouver in 1979. Over the years, in addition to helping run the family business in land development and property management and raising four children, Christiana has always been involved in the local community.

She became a member of the Rotary Club of Semiahmoo (White Rock) in District 5050 in 2001, was President of her club in her third year in Rotary, Assistant Governor for three years and has held several other District positions. Christiana is very committed to our Rotary Foundation. She is member of the Paul Harris Society, of the Bequest Society and a Major Donor.

Christiana has been Executive Director of the Canadian Wheelchair Foundation since its inception in late 2002. Volunteering her time for the first year and a half of the organization’s existence allowed a strong support base to be built. She spends much of her time on the road on speaking engagements, including Alaska over the years, and wheelchair deliveries, lately in Ukraine, Panama and the Dominican Republic.

Through her work over the last 20 years Christiana has learned a lot about access or the lack of it and the amazing transformation in peoples’ lives when they have it. She speaks German, English, Spanish and French. She has been recognized as a Not-for-Profit-Leader by the Surrey Board of Trade through their Surrey Women in Business award.

Christiana loves the outdoors, cooking big meals when offspring and friends visit and to read. She lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.
